Ako Daraei is specialized in rock mechanics and rock engineering fields. He has 12 years industrial experience having served as consultant, independent reviewer and member of Contractor Company on major civil engineering projects in Iran, Iraq & Tajikistan. Dr. Daraei is cooperated in the design and construction of more than 40 Km tunnels. His main research interests are in the geotechnics, underground structures design, sequential tunneling methods, instrumentation and monitoring, slope stability, back analysis and rock dynamics. He has published more than 16 journal papers and 11 conference proceedings papers. Some most important administrative duties as follow:

·         Geotechnics and tunnels consultant in Iraqi-Kurdistan region ministry of construction and housing.

·         Senior consultant geotechnical affairs in the Behesht mall in Baneh where is the largest commercial trading mall in west of Iran.

·         Design blasting pattern for transformer cavern, busduct, manifold, S-shafts & tunnels in Ragun dam & powerhouse in Tajikistan where the largest earth dam in the world is.
