Meet the Academic Staff

We would not be able to stand tall today without our devoted human resources. FENG is made up of XXX academic employees in each of its three departments, as well as XXXX administrative staff. Some of our employees may have academic and administrative responsibilities. FENG aspires to be a proactive academic community with global and local influence. FENG academic personnel participate in a variety of scholarly activities, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and lecturing. Research is a priority, and FENG is collaborating with the SUN community to find answers to many critical problems that are impacting people's lives locally. Jamal Ismail Kakrasul

Dr. Jamal Ismail Kakrasul (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is the Dean of Engineering and an active lecturer at the Department of Civil and Enviromental Engineering (DCEE), where he teaches civil engineering courses to a diverse range of students and promotes new, motivated, and creative research initiatives. He has created, devised, and taught multiple STEMS courses in several disciplines. He earned a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Duhok (UOD) and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Salahaddin University (SU)/Erbil. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, USA. He is a firm believer that professional experience makes a teacher a more successful teacher by bringing real-world experience to the classroom. Bahalddin Faqe Ahmed

Asst. Prof. Bahaalddin Faqe Ahmed is the dean’s assistant for administration and student affairs in the Faculty of Engineering. teaches process law at the Faculty of Law. He earned his Ph.D. from the International Islamic University, Faculty of Human Science, 2015 in Malaysia, his Master's from the International Islamic University, Faculty of Human Science, 2012, and his bachelor's degree from Duhok University, 2000. Asst. Prof. Ahmad has many researches in different areas of law. Asst. Prof. Ahmad’s work experience as Head of the Department of Law, Faculty of Law, Political Sciences, and Management from 2016–2020, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Political Sciences, and Management, dated 2018. Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Law, the Promotion Committee of the Faculty of Law, and the Examinations Committee at the Bachelor's and Higher Education levels, during his tenure as the Chairman of the Department of Law. Ibtisam Mustafa Kamal

Prof. Ibtisam Mustafa Kamal teaches Process Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (FENG). She earned her B.Sc. in 1975 and her M.Sc. in 1982 in Polymer Technology from the University of Basrah in Iraq. In 1990, she received a PhD in Polymer Technology from the University of Basrah, and in 2012, she received her 2nd PhD (HDR) in Process Engineering from La Rochelle University – France,. Prof. Kamal's research effort is evidenced by over 140 peer-reviewed scientific articles and two patents, one of which is European. Prof. Kamal's research focuses on the simulation, optimization, and modelling of materials production processes, namely biofuels, environmentally friendly drilling fluids, smart building materials, and green nanoparticles. Arkan Jasim Hadi

Dr. Arkan Jasim Hadi (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is the lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering  (DCHE) at the Faculty of Engineering (FENG). He received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1995 and his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 2005 from Tikrit University's Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering. He got his Ph.D. in March 2013 from the Faculty of Chemical and Natural Resource Engineering at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang in Malaysia, and he became a post-doctoral associate there in August 2016. Prior to joining Soran University (SUN), he worked for 9 years as a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Tikrit University's Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering. Yousif Jameel Bas

Mr Yousif Jameel Bas (B.Sc., M.Sc.) has been the chairman of the Department of Civil and Enviromental Engineering (DCEE) from Feb 2022. His research interests are in structural engineering, with a special emphasis on nonlinear analysis. In 2011, he obtained his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Erbil Polytechnic University. In 2019, he received his M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University (KSU)/Turkey. at the present time he is a lecturer at the DCEE and PhD student You may contact him at;

Hiwa Hussain Omer

Dr. Hewa Hussein Omar (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer and head of department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (DPME) at Soran University's Faculty of Engineering (FENG) (SUN). In 2006, he earned a B.Sc. in mechanical Engineering from Salahaddin University.

In 2009, he went to Russia to study at Moscow Aviation Institute at the Department of the Theory of Aircraft Engines, but first he took a preparatory course in the Russian language and after 8 months, after completing the preparatory course, he entered the Moscow Aviation Institute. In 2014, he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in aviation and rocket engineering, in 2016 he earned a master's degree with honors in aircraft engines from Moscow Aviation Institute And in 2021 he received his a Ph.D. in Thermal, Electrojet Engines and Aircrafts Power Plants at Samara research University. From 2016 to 2017, he worked as an assistant lecturer at Soran at the Department of Engineering Chemistry and from 2019 to 2022, he worked as an assistant lecturer at Samara National research University (Russia-Samara,) at the Department of theory of aircraft engine. The area of his interest is thermal, mechanical, power, and aircraft engineering.

Bengin Masih Awdel

Dr Bengin Masih Awdel (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Civil and Enviromental Engineering Sustainable Materials at Soran University's College of Engineering. His current study is focused on the utilisation of waste, industrial by-products, new materials, recycled materials, and eco-efficient concrete in the production of high-quality construction materials. His comprehensive study has resulted in several referred scholarly journal and conference publications, book chapters, seminars, and workshops. He serves as a peer reviewer for over ten national and international academic journals.

Kamaran Sulaiman Ismail

Dr. Kamaran Sulaiman Ismail (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer at the  Department of Civil and Enviromental Engineering (DCEE). Soran University (SUN). He joined DCEE in 2017 following a 12-year career at Salahaddin University Hewler (SU). He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from SU, as well as his PhD from The University of Sheffield in 2016. His primary research interests include the structural behaviour of RC non-flexural members, shear behaviour of concrete structures, numerical analysis of RC structures, and the use of FRP to reinforce concrete buildings.

Aryanfar Haji Sherwani

Mr Aryanfar Haji M. Abd Sherwani (BSc-Eng., M.Sc.) is a construction and building materials' lecturer at DCEEFENG / SUN. A Ph.D. candidate now working on a split-side programme with Fachhochschule Erfurt - the University of Applied Science and the University of Sheffield. From January 2020 to January 2021, he was a visiting scholar at FH ERFURT-University of Applied Sciences in Germany. His studies are centred on sustainable concrete, self-compacted concrete, geopolymer concrete, building and demolition waste, by-product materials, and waste materials. Several of his works and a book chapter have been indexed in the Clarivate and Scopus databases. at the present time he is a head of department of Civil and Enviromental Engineering Reach him at;

Abbas Khaksar Manshad

Dr. Abbas Khaksar Manshad (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer and researcher in the department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at FENG / SUN (DPME). He graduated from Petroleum University of Technology (PUT)-Abadan with a B.Sc. in Production Engineering in 2002, and Amirkabir University of Technology with an M.Sc. in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering in 2004. He received his PhD in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2008. You may reach him at;

Ako Daraei

Dr. Ako Daraei (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer at DCEE with a focus on geotechnics. He was awarded his B.Sc. in Mining Engineering; Lorestan University, M.Sc. in Rock Mechanics; Sahand University of Technology, and PhD degrees in Rock Mechanics ; Shahrood Univeristy of Technology in Iran. He has 15 years of industry experience in various countries. Dr. Daraei has designed and built tunnels, roads, slope stability, and a few unique bridges. His principal scientific interests are geotechnics, tunnel design, instrumentation and monitoring, slope stability, back analysis, and rock and soil dynamics. You may reach him at;

Namam Muhammad Salih

Dr Namam Muhammad Salih (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D) is a lecturer at the department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (DPME). She graduated from The University of Sulaimani with a bachelor's in geology in 2002 and Salahaddin University Hewler (SU) with a master's in Sedimentary Rocks  in 2010. She was awarded a scholarship in 2017 to study hydrothermal carbonate rocks and calcretization processes at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Alberta in Canada. She later earned a PhD from The Université libre de Bruxelles ULB in 2018 in the study of hydrothermal oil reservoir rocks at Biogeochemistry & Modelling of Earth System-Sedimentology and Basin Analysis. She presently oversees the postgraduate studies department of FENG. Dr. Salih's research interests include hot diagenetic settings in carbonate rocks, ore-mineralization geochemistry, and hydrocarbon reservoirs. Halmat Ismael Saeed

Mr Halmat Ismael Saeed (B.A., M.A) is an assistant lecturer, and has been a lecturer at FOENG since 2018    Department of Chemical Engineering  (DCHE) and the head of dean's office, he received his Ba in Law in 2008 from Salahaddin University (SU)-Erbil. He took a preparatory course in the Russian language at Moscow Aviation Institute  and after 8 months, after completing the preparatory course, he entered the Peopel's Friedship University of Russia and he received Master of Arts in Law from Peopel's Friedship University of Russia , in Moscow, Russian Federation, 2012.

Jagar Abdulazez Ali

Dr. Jagar Abdulazez Ali (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer at the department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (DPME) at Soran University's Faculty of Engineering (FENG) (SUN). In 2011, he earned a B.Sc. (Hons) in Petroleum Engineering from Koya University, and in 2014, he earned an M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University (UK). He continued his academic pursuit, pursuing a PhD in "Effects of Novel Nanomaterials on Enhanced Oil Recovery in Carbonate Reservoirs" at Soran University in collaboration with Petroleum University of Technology (Iran) and Heriot-Watt University (UK), which covers a green synthesis of nanoparticles and their effects on IFT, Wettability, and oil recovery. Abdulqadir Bayz Hammdamin

Mr Abdulqadir Bayz Hammadamin (B.Sc., M.Sc.) works as a trainee in theDepartment of Civil and Enviromental Engineering (DCEE). In 2010, he received his B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering from Salahaddin University (SU)-Erbil. In 2013, he received an M.Sc. in Architectural Techology and Design from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. He has a decade of teaching experience at Soran University. He also lectures at the University of Kurdistan Hewlér, Tishk International University, and Salahaddin University. His areas of interest in research include learning space design, high-performance built environments, and social interaction in built settings. Hamid Kazemi Hakki

Dr. Hamid Kazemi Hakki (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD)works as a researcher and lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering  (DCHE) at FENG. He received an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Sahand University of Technology (SUT) (Tabriz-Iran). He worked as a lecturer and supervisor at Urmia Technical University, as well as at SUT. In 2021, he was named Iran's greatest technologist by the Ministry of Education. His principal scientific interests include photocatalysis and catalysis, photoreactor and microphotoreactor design, silica aerogel and novel photocatalyst synthesis, photocatalytic, hydrophobic, and anti-fog coatings, and the recycling of plastic wastes into useful items. Rizgar Abdulrahman Omar

Mr. Rizgar Abdulrahman Omar (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is a full-time member of DCEE's Academic and Administrative team. He received a B.Sc. in Department of Civil and Enviromental Engineering from Salahaddin University (SU) and an M.Sc. in Geotechnical, Materials, and Highway Engineering from Gaziantep University. His primary research interests are waste, recyclable materials, and engineered materials used in soil stabilisation. Among other things, he teaches Surveying, Computing, Building Materials, Soil Mechanics, Transportation, and Engineering Highway, at the present time he is a PhD student at  Soran university. Foad Hatam Yousefi

Mr. Foad Hatam Yousefi (B.Sc., M.Sc.) has been a lecturer at FENG's DPME since 2016. He obtained an M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Semnan University, with a concentration in Petroleum Exploration. He is the coordinator of DPME, in addition to my academic obligations as a lecturer. He is in charge of managing office work, DPME communications, and dealing with student issues. Shireen Mansour A Al-Majmaie

Shireen Mansour Awad Al-Majmaie (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is a department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering assistant lecturer (DPTME). She specialises in Wireless Communication and Communication Systems and holds certificates in IT Essentials, PC Hardware and Software, CISCO Networking Academy, and ICT Academy. Wireless Communications, Image Processing, Communication Systems, Electronics, and Computer Science are among her research interests. She is a Director of the QA Unit at FENG.

Mahfouz Rostamzadeh

Dr. Mahfouz Rostamzadeh (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD) is a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) of Soran University (SUN). He received his bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Tabriz University, his master's degree in mathematics, and a PhD in mathematics/geometry from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran. His research interests include geometry, hyperbolic geometry, mathematical physics, foundations of geometry, reflection spaces, numerical analysis, and optimization. You may reach him at;

Sarkar Muheddin Hama

Sarkar Muheddin Hama (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is an adjunct lecturer in FENG/Department SUN's of department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (DPME). He graduated from the University of Koya  with a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in petroleum engineering in Tehran university/ Iran. Khadijeh Mirza

Miss Khadijeh Mirza (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering (DCHE). She earned a BSc in Chemical Engineering with a minor in the Petrochemical Topic, as well as a Master's degree from the same department in Transport Phenomena from Urmia University of Technology in Iran. Shwan Jalal Abdullah Bajalan

Mr Shwan Jalal Abdullah Bajalan (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is an assistant lecturer at theDepartment of Civil and Enviromental Engineering (DCEE). He received a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Baghdad University in 1997, and an M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2004. In 2005/2006, Mr. Bajalan studied postgraduate engineering at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea. He taught engineering courses at Universiti Sains Malaysia (U.S.M) in Malaysia before joining Soran University in 2013. He is now teaching engineering core courses, grading and supervising undergraduate students, and working on numerous DCEE initiatives. Shahab Ahmadi Azar

Mr Shahab Ahmadiazar is an engineer with a specialization in machine component design and finite element method. He got his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Islamic Azad University of Tabriz  in 2009. And he got his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Islamic Azad University of Benab in 2012. Since 2019, Shahab Ahmadiazar has been working in the petroleum engineering department of Soran University. Aref Ghaderi

Aref Ghaderi, (B.Sc., M.Sc.) at Kurdistan University in (Sanandaj/ Iran) 2015, coordinator of Chemical engineering departmen, he is assisstant lecturer and he has lectuers at all departments of faculty of engineering, over 10 years' experience in positions including Consulting Civil Engineer, Director of Public Works and Wastewater, Consultant, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Structural and Civil Focused studies on concrete & steel. Nzar Shakr Piro

Mr Nzar Shakr Piro (B.Sc., M.Sc.) is a lecturer and coordinator at the Engineering Faculty (FENG). In 2010, he received his B.Sc. Electrical Engineering from Salahaddin University (SU)/Erbil. In 2012, he received a fully financed scholarship from KRG through the HCDP programme for an M.Sc. from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Newcastle University in the UK in 2014. Zana Swara Mohammed 

Mr Zana Swara Mohammed The individual embarked on their professional journey in 2005 after graduating from Kirkuk Technical College with a high degree in Surveying. The initial three years were spent at FALCON GROUP company, where they commenced as a surveyor on the Empire Project. With evolving expertise, they transitioned to the role of an infrastructure design designer, showcasing versatility and a penchant for diverse roles. In 2011, a significant chapter unfolded as they joined Erbil Polytechnique University, contributing to the Surveying Department until 2023. During this tenure, a pursuit of higher education led to the attainment of an MSc in Geomatics Engineering from Gaziothman University in Turkey in 2019, marking a dedication to continuous learning. The year 2023 witnessed a professional shift as they joined Soran University, bringing their wealth of experience to the Engineering Faculty, specifically in the Civil and Environmental Department.
