Civil and Environmental Engineering

B.Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering

Soran University (SU) offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science B.Sc. in two different program Civil Engineering program and Environmental Engineering program in which you will study civil and environmental engineering modules in the areas of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation, highway engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, project management, and construction engineering.

In your final year, you will work on an integrated design project. It is a multidisciplinary design project that incorporates all aspects of Civil and Environmental Engineering, including environmental, geotechnical, water supply, sewerage, structural, transportation, and project management, and covers the entire design process from conceptual and preliminary design to final design for construction purposes. Each student must demonstrate the competence to create a substantial engineering design utilizing the information obtained during their undergraduate studies in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

At the conclusion of the third year, you will participate in industrial training, during which you will be exposed to many elements of industrial practices and ethics, as well as acquire practical knowledge and skills necessary for professional growth. In your final year, you must also participate in research activities. The Final Year Project courses allow students to gain information through research activities and apply that knowledge to real-world issues.

In eight semesters, 240 ECTS credit hours of courses are taught. This Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering curriculum takes four years to complete.

Head of Department

My name is Yousif Jameel Bas, and I am the Head of Department of Civil Engineering (DCEE). I took my office in Oct 2021, and I am responsible for running the academic and administration affairs of DCEE.  My research interests are in structural engineering, with a special emphasis on nonlinear analysis. In 2011, I obtained my Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Erbil Polytechnic University. In 2019, I received my M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University (KSU)/Turkey.  If you have any question related to our department DCEE please do not hesitate to visit my office at the FENG/DCEE.

Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering is concerned with the design, development, and maintenance of our built environment, which includes everything from buildings to bridges, roads, and railroads, as well as what this implies for the planet's and society's future.

You will be taught by academic staff who are civil engineering professionals in an inclusive learning environment at DCVEE. Lectures, tutorial courses, laboratory sessions, and computer-based sessions are among the teaching and learning approaches we employ.
