PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering

Starting with a very generic approach important for any engineer nowadays, courses will become very specific towards the end of your Bachelor studies. The broad education in combination with the informal but challenging teaching environment enables you to build up high-end knowledge and technical skills in Petroleum and Mining Engineering.

Study methods:

Duration:

The duration of the study at the DPME  is 4 Academic years of full-time studies. Normally, an academic year starts in the first week of September to the end of June next year.

Program Course Modules taught at the Department:

Students who get a bachelor's degree from DPME programs are prepared to work as professional engineers. A complete list of Course Modules offered by this department may be found at the following website. Each course has a standard course module code that links to its own dedicated website, which contains all the course's details. Please note that you will be routed to the Academic Profile of the lecturer presenting the course on the website for each course module.

Course Modules:

Basic Courses (B)

The undergraduate petroleum and mining engineering program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation. Basic courses within the requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, where these courses are considered university requirements for the first stages in universities, and these courses are Kurdistan Studies, English language, Computer skills, and Academic debates, where students must complete the requirements for success in these courses in the first stages in universities.

Relevance Courses (R)

You should have a thorough understanding of fundamental science in engineering disciplines as a College of Engineering compulsory course before diving into your rigorous petroleum and mining engineering courses throughout your junior and senior years. Physics, chemistry, general geology, engineering drawing, technical English, mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, engineering mathematics, static strength of material, are just a few examples of crucial disciplines to learn.

Core Courses (C)

The Petroleum Engineering programs needed core courses to introduce you to a body of information and fundamental skills that you must master if you want to be a successful petroleum engineer. We focus on geology and geophysics, production engineering (process equipment design, well performance, and natural gas engineering), drilling engineering (drilling operations, well engineering, and directional drilling), reservoir engineering (fluid flow through porous media, rock and fluid properties, well testing, enhanced oil recovery, field development, research methods, and a group project) and drilling operations (drilling operations, well engineering, and directional drilling).

Mining engineering programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in the mining industry. These programs typically cover a range of subjects related to mining operations, mineral extraction, resource management, safety, and environmental sustainability. The courses of Principles of Mineral Exploration and Exploitation, Mineral Processing Engineering, Mining Surveying, Mine Design are a few examples of crucial disciplines to learn.

Elective Courses (E)

Elective courses provide you the freedom to choose and choose courses that meet a specific educational requirement, as well as allow you to pursue new interests and acquire desirable employment skills and talents. The entire list of offered classes may be seen on a DPaME programs sheet.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The first step is to explain what you may anticipate from the DPME 's Department of Petroleum Engineering. Thus, 'Introduction to SUN Studies / DPME ' will provide you with an overview of the university's various courses as well as your future career options. 'Introduction to Petroleum and Mining Engineering' will also cover the upstream petroleum and Mining business, as well as the fundamentals of how the petroleum and mining industry operates.

This program can be completed in Full Time: 4 years.

Final Research Project

The final year project, as the name implies, is the project you must complete in your last year of study before graduating. If you don't finish the final year project by the deadline, you won't be able to graduate. This project is a formal assignment chosen by the student or small groups of students on a curriculum-related topic that requires out-of-class study and development. Students present their ideas to the rest of the class, the course faculty, and representatives from a variety of local organizations and enterprises at the end of the semester. The Final Research Project of SUN's 4th Year Students teaches you how to prepare your paper (Please click to view the document).

You will meet with your assigned supervisor on a regular basis during your involvement with your research project. These sessions are intended to help you through your project and ensure that you satisfy the work's requirements. You and your supervisor are responsible for keeping a record of your meeting and keeping track of your progress. You may print and fill out a standard SUN supervision form here for each meeting.
